Shortly after the launch of the iPhone 16, attention has been shifted to the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup and this is mainly because of the introduction of the Air model. Apple also aims to create the thinnest iPhone to date with this series. Earlier the rumours suggested that the iPhone 17 Air would be thinner than the iPhone 16. Recent reports have also indicated that it may be so slim that there would not be a SIM tray in it.
In a report by The Information, Apple is thinking about removing the physical SIM card tray from the iPhone 17 Air in some more countries next year. While the countries the company talked about have not been identified yet this decision could affect a wider array of iPhone models and markets.
It was also noted that all prototypes of the Air model do not consist of a SIM tray raising questions about its availability in China. In the United States, Apple initiated this trend with the iPhone 14 series, however, China has also rejected the concept of e-SIMs offering greater security than physical SIM Cards as they cannot be removed or stolen from the device.
Moreover, an iPhone can also manage up to eight SIMs at the same time which makes the process of travelling without the need to handle physical SIM cards. Leaked specifications for the iPhone 17 Air indicate substantial enhancements, featuring a thinner and lighter design with a 120Hz refresh rate with a 6.1-inch display.
The device is equipped with the A19 chip, the device promises improved processing speed and energy efficiency. Analysts anticipate that this chipset will bolster multitasking and graphics performance making it perfect for gaming and resource-intensive applications.
In addition to this, advancements in machine learning capabilities are supposed to boost user experiences, especially in photography and augmented reality.
