Apple is planning to launch a smart display with a new operating system called homeOS in 2025. According to online reports, a HomePod device with a display will be coming soon, which will be equipped with a robotic arm. The screen can be rotated and tilted for a better viewing experience.
Furthermore, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that there will be two versions: a low-end display with all the basic features, like FaceTime and smart home controls. The other one will be the high-end robotic variant that may cost more than $1000.
The first version will be released sooner to gauge the reaction and get the feedback of customers. It will also have Apple Intelligence for both devices, and the homeOS will be based on Apple TVs and tvOS.
Apparently, the first model is code-named J595 (premium), and the second device is code-named J490 (affordable). Both the devices will have an interface to connect to the home appliances. Apple’s prototypes for these smart displays will also be capable of magnetically attaching to walls or sitting atop desks.
With almost all similar features to the Amazon’s Echo and Google Nest, Apple’s homeOS will most likely have more advanced functions to beat the competitors at their own game. The magnetic smart display will be a game-changer, providing more automation control. At the moment, the device is at the prototyping stage, and it’s not clear when it will be finally released.
