Apple came out with a new generation of laptops last month which includes an upgraded iMac, the redesigned Mac Mini, and the all-new MacBook Pro models with Thunderbolt 5. All of these are powered by M4 Pro chips and M4 Max chips.
The M4 Pro chip is equipped with a 14-core CPU and 20-core GPU, the M4 Max comes with a 16-core CPU and a 40-core GPU.
According to recent reports, these M4 chips by Apple have not only outperformed their predecessors but also have remarkably beat out flagship desktop-grade CPUs from Intel and AMD. This was discovered when the chips started to surface at the freemium computer program, Geekbench. The tech giant Apple has been able to take back its crown and established its processors as the fastest ones to date.
In Geekbench run 6, scoring for M4 Pro was at 3,925 points while both Intel Core Ultra 9 285k and AMD Ryzen 9 9950X managed to score 3,450 points and 3,359 points respectively. This score is even worthy of praise cause the M4 Pro chips are powered at 4.5GHz, while the Intel and AMD chips have boost clocks of up to 5.7GHz.
Now, the M4 family is the most advanced lineup of chips ever built for a personal computer system, bringing together far more power-efficient performance and advanced capabilities to the Mac.
The M4 lineup is a solid response to overall competitors in the market like Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm. However, Apple has always been known to charge quite a price for its premium products, so it might be a bit of a concern for consumers.
