Apple offers an easier way to Update AirPods

According to a report by MacRumors, Apple has refreshed its AirPods firmware support page today. It brings out a comprehensive step-by-step guide for upgrading AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Pro Max to the latest firmware.

Unlike other Apple devices like the iPhone or Apple Watch, which allows users to initiate updates through their settings. AirPods need a more passive approach waiting for the update to occur automatically.

The updates support page retains the initial overview of Apple of the necessary conditions for the update. However, for now features an expanded guide that is designed to facilitate the automatic update process.

While many of the steps are familiar, new recommendations have been introduced. For example, using a USB Cable for charging and allowing at least 30 minutes for the update to finish.

These additions could prove beneficial for those who have faced challenges with firmware updates. The following instructions are designed for AirPods and AirPods with similar steps for AirPods Max, minus the charging case details.

Users need to ensure that AirPods are within Bluetooth range of the iPhone, Mac, or iPad that is connected to Wi-Fi. Users can place AirPods in their charging case and securely close the lid.

They need to connect the charging cable to the charging case, and then plug the other end into a USB charger or port. Keep the charging case lid closed and wait for a minimum of 30 minutes for the firmware update to take place.

After the waiting period, users open the lid of the charging case to reconnect their AirPods to an iPad, iPhone, or Mac. Finally, they need to recheck the firmware version.

Right now, there are no notifications or sounds on connected devices to indicate a successful firmware update for AirPods. After completing these steps and allowing at least half an hour, users can manually verify the firmware version by accessing the Bluetooth settings on the device.
