It’s been only a few days since the launch of the iPhone 16, and customers are already exploring new features of the device. This includes not just the latest software update of iOS 18 but also major changes to its hardware with a removable battery with less effort than before.
Yes, now users and repair specialists can loosen the iPhone batteries using low-voltage electrical current, such as from a 9V battery. This was demonstrated in a blog post with a detailed step-by-step process. It isn’t as easy as on Android devices, but now it’s possible to unscrew all the parts of an iPhone.
Take a look at the viral video here:
It’s an approximately 10-minute video in which the vlogger shows a clear and closer look at tearing down the iPhone to its very base. The video starts with attaching the alligator clips to a 9V battery, connecting the red/positive clip to the silver tab on the iPhone’s battery, and connecting the black/negative clip to the lower-right grounding screw on the iPhone’s bottom speaker module.
Once unbound, it reveals a silver strip with the glue that was holding the battery. The vlogger does not stop there, but one by one strips the complete device to reveal the mastery and artistry of the iPhone. It also compares the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, mentioning all the differences and similarities.
It is clearly stated that this battery removal process works only for the iPhone series, and the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max batteries still have stretch-release adhesive pull tabs. This is a new step taken by Apple to make it convenient for users to change the battery if required and enjoy the benefits of using an iPhone for a longer time.
