Garmin smartwatches dealing with the blue triangle of death

Malfunctioning of Garmin smartwatch is something which is experienced by several users around the world. Numerous Garmin users have reported that their devices have been caught in an endless boot loop. This boot is often known as the blue triangle of death.

Other users are dealing with the more conventional boot screen, however, but once their devices are stuck, they become completely unresponsive. This problem appears to be widespread as it has affected various models as well as users across multiple countries.

Discussions on the r/Garmin subreddit reveal that the issue is affecting a range of watches including those from the Epix, Venu, Descent, Forerunner, and Fenix series.

The Verge has also confirmed that the problem is indeed present on the Venu 3 model. Initially, a simple reset seems to fix the issue, however, many users have found their devices trapped in a resolute boot loop thereafter.

Garmin is aware of the situation and the issues users are facing globally. While specific details remain limited, it looks like the bug is linked to the initiation of GPS activities.

Natalie Miller, Garmin spokesperson says, “Garmin is researching reports of devices displaying a blue triangle when starting a GPS activity. A reset by pressing and holding the power button may restore functionality. We will provide more information on a permanent fix when available.”

The Garmin Support Center repeats the same sentiment, indicating that any temporary fixes might not work for a longer term. It is not clear yet when the permanent fix for this problem will be available to the users.

Interestingly, some users have noted that when they engage in non-GPS activities, the boot loop does not seem to be triggered. Therefore, until Garmin brings out an official fix for the issue, it would be wise to avoid any GPS-related functions on the watch for the time being.
