Lenovo launches laptop with rollable OLED display

Laptop screens are often a bit constricted, fortunately, Lenovo’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable AI PC allows users to expand their workspace without lugging around a portable monitor.

This innovative device features an OLED display that, with a simple button press extends the 140-inch screen upward. It transforms it into a unique aspect ratio and doubles the screen real estate to 16.7 inches. Two screens are undeniably better for productivity, but if one screen could transform into two while remaining one, it would be absolutely amazing.

When it rolls out, it treats the users to a delightful animation accompanied by music. Users can even initiate the rolling action with a palm gesture; they just need to scan their hand and move it up or down to adjust the screen height. However, hitting the button on the keyboard is much quicker for the action.

With the window-snapping features of Windows 11, users can stack applications vertically. For a user who generally carries a spare portable monitor, this sleek solution emerges as a game-changer that takes less space in their bag. In addition to this, the elongated aspect ratio is perfect for looking at documents, PDFs, and web pages comfortably.

Lenovo has claimed that they have tested the rolling mechanism 30,000 times and ensured that it operates smoothly. They emphasize that the testing should ease any concerns there are about reliability, though repairs might be a bit tricky.

The device weighs just 3.7 pounds and feels comparable to a standard laptop which is a pound lighter than the 16-inch MacBook Pro. However, carrying the laptop with the screen open might feel a bit awkward because it is top-heavy. When it is closed, it is 19.9 mm thick which is slightly bulkier than the 15.4 mm of the MacBook Pro. However, it is still slimmer than a typical gaming laptop.
