OpenPlus has begun its marketing campaign, in anticipation of the upcoming OnePlus 13 smartphones but the business says nothing about the upcoming smartwatch. The future of Android smartwatches is unclear given Apple’s dominance in wearable technology, but there are rumours that a third-generation OnePlus Watch with some intriguing upgrades is expected.
As reported by SmartPrix, leakers Yogesh Brar and Chunvn on X indicated that the OnePlus Watch 3 is preparing for a worldwide release in the first quarter of 2025. The OnePlus Watch 3 is likely to have a rotary dial which is quite similar to the Digital Crown which is featured on the Apple Watches even if it is expected to keep a design identical to the OP Watch 2.
This addition will simplify user interface navigation, complementing the touchscreen and offering a tactical way to engage with the device. The OP Watch 3 is supposed to come equipped with an improved heart rate sensor that consists of ECG capabilities. Furthermore, OnePlus is thinking of giving the Watch 3 LTE connectivity, which would allow it to function without a smartphone.
This would enable users to get notifications and make calls without even having their phones close to hand. The Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset will be powering the upcoming wristwatch. For effective low-power performance, it is expected that it will run on the most recent WearOS 5 combined with RTOS.
It is a strong, 500mAh+ battery that is expected to fuel the OnePlus Watch 3 which aligns with the dedication of the company to create timepieces that last through the night. It would be interesting for the users to see the OnePlus watch being similar to Apple. The dial will make it easier for the users to look for the UI, additionally, it will be working alongside the touchscreen to interact with the watch.
