After numerous rumors, Samsung officially announced the ‘Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition’ in Korea on 21 October through a blog post.
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is a new slim smartphone and has more powerful hardware, compared to its predecessor Galaxy Z Fold 6. The latest Galaxy Fold lineup weighs 236g and is 10.6mm thick. It is 1.5mm thinner and 3g lighter than Galaxy Z Fold 6.
According to Samsung Electronics Newsroom:
“We are proud to present this new product in Korea as a gesture of gratitude to domestic consumers who are leading the foldable market,” said Sung-Taek Lim, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics Korea. “The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition provides a slim and light foldable experience, and is a product with a sophisticated design with elaborate patterns and deep colors.”
For the first time, the Samsung Galaxy Z series has a 200 million pixel wide-angle camera making it most profitable for clear and graphic photos and videos. Along with a camera, the special edition has 168GB of memory that supports Gemin AI, an 8.0-inch wide display with an aspect 20:18 ratio to enhance user experience.
Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform chipset to support the accessibility of AI applications.
However, the company’s latest Galaxy Z model is only available in “black shadow” color. The sale of products will begin on 25 October 2024 at 9:00 am via Samsung.com and verified online malls. The price is around $2,040.
