Sony Defends PS5 Pro Pricing, Sales Are Booming

| Updated on November 25, 2024

As observed by Genki_JPN, a video game reporter, Sony President Hiroki Totoki has assured Japanese investors that the pricing of PS5 Pro does not deter sales at all. Adding more, he mentioned that hardcore users are the target users for this hardware.

PS5 Pro was launched on Thursday with a pricing of $700. Although, PS5 Rp Pro is available in most of the stores, unlike PlayStation 5, the newly released PlayStation 5 Pro has not been sold yet. It is important to note that the PlayStation 5 was launched in 2020 amid a global chip shortage. This led to a limited availability of the console, however, it looks like the demand for the more advanced model has comparatively decreased to the standard version.

Speculators who had plans to replicate the significant profit they made from the resales of PS5 now are bound to reduce the prices. The reason is, the much-anticipated rush for the mid-cycle console has not taken place yet.

As of now, some resellers have fixed-price consoles that are available for users for £680 – £700, while there are auctions for others where bids are ranging from £510 to £670. Although there are expectations that these bids might increase before the closing of the auction, there are fewer chances that they will exceed the retail price of the console which is £700.

While it is clear that the consoles can be obtained by buyers who are interested, scalpers have not completely detached themselves from the PS5 Pro. instead, the external disc drive of the PS5 Pro is being sold separately, which encounters a shortage and is being sold at inflated rates. The disk drive which is supposed to retail for £79.99 is currently out of stock at all the major retailers, which leads eBay UK sellers to list the unit at prices from £150 to £250.
