Samsung’s flagship soundbars have long been a staple among audio-visual enthusiasts. Their popularity is mainly because of their impressive channel counts, power, and exceptional ability to create immersive 3-D soundscapes from Dolby Atmos and DTS:X soundtracks.
However, in recent generations, there have been improvements, but the annual updates have tended to be modest. For the 2025 lineup, Samsung is all set to introduce some truly groundbreaking changes.
HW-Q990F was at the pinnacle of Samsung’s 2025 soundbar offerings. This new model follows the highly acclaimed HW-Q990D and represents a major shift from its predecessor.
Instead of a traditional bulky subwoofer equipped with an acoustic lens and a single 8-inch driver, the HW-Q990F has an innovative 300W cubic bass speaker design. This design includes an 8-inch dual active unit with two drivers that are positioned on opposite sides.
According to Samsung, this redesign reduces unwanted resonance and gets a frequency response as low as 32Hz, all while being around half the size of the previous model.
In addition to potentially boosting the low-frequency performance of the Q990F, the more compact subwoofer design allows the users to place it in a stylish living space. Even if it cannot be completely concealed, its redefined finish gives out a more sophisticated aesthetics as compared to earlier versions.
Moreover, Samsung’s commitment to artificial intelligence gives a significant boost to the Q990F system, introducing different AI-driven sound optimization features. A Dynamic Bass Control system helps improve low-frequency clarity using continuous non-linear bass management. On the other hand, an AI-enhanced version of Samsung’s Active Voice Amplifier Pro system analyzes content in real time to reduce background noise as much as possible and enhance dialogue clarity.
Samsung’s Q-Symphony feature allows the soundbar to be integrated with speakers in compatible Samsung TVs and also got AI-enhancments for the 2025 models. The enhancement enables it to connect with three additional wireless speakers instead of just two.
