Nothing Phone to incorporate telephoto lens

Preparations are going on for the launch event that has been scheduled for March. It is anticipated that either the Nothing Phone (3), Phone (3a) or both will make their debut.

As speculations are intensifying, a recent teaser suggests the introduction of the first telephoto camera in a Nothing Phone. Whereas, the rumours surrounding Nothing Phone (3a) indicate that it may have a larger display.

To date, every device Nothing Phone has been equipped with only two rear cameras, an ultra-wide angle, and a standard wide-angle lens. The absence of telephoto capabilities means that zoom functionality relies only on digital zoom, placing these devices at a disadvantage to other rivals.

A teaser shared on X by Nothing is a short video that zooms in on Carl Pei, showing a major transition to a different lens around halfway through the clip. Although it is challenging to pinpoint the exact moment the new lens will be activated, it appears that it will occur around a 2-3x zoom level.

This feature might belong to the Nothing Phone (3), however, it increasingly seems like it will be associated with the Nothing Phone (3a) instead. According to the reports that came out earlier, it was indicated that the Phone (31) would shift to a Qualcomm chipset

Both Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Plus are expected to include telephoto cameras. A recent leak further reveals that the Phone (3a) will be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3.

Besides this, it boasts a larger 6.8-inch display and features two 50MP cameras for the primary and telephoto lenses which will be complemented by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front-facing camera. It will return with the same 5000 mAh battery as its predecessor and is expected to run on Nothing OS 3.1 which is an improvement built on Nothing’s Android 15 interface.
